Joseph J. Milazzo

HOLLIDAYSBURG — MILAZZO – Joseph J. “Joe,” 95, formerly of Johnstown, died March 8, 2013, in Hollidaysburg.  Born June 4, 1917, in Colver.  He was the  son of Benedict and Charlene (Cravotta) Milazzo. Preceded in death by parents; wife, Rose E. (Bruno); brothers , Angelo, Leonard and Louis; and sisters, Virginia and Louise. Survived by children, Joseph J., married to Joanne (DiGulio), Springfield, Va.; Louis B., married to Carol (Milkovich), Lancaster, Ohio; and Charlene M. Romeo, married to John R., Hollidaysburg; seven grandchildren, Lisa Marie, married to Andrew Gurowitz; Joseph Todd Milazzo, married to Sandy; Matthew Dade, married to Darcie; Kristina, married to Jonathan Siegler; and Dana Helene, Selena Rose and John Robert Romeo; eight great-grandchild- ren; brothers, Charles, New Jersey; and Benedict, Sidman. Joseph graduated as the valedictorian of Dale High School, Class of 1935. He was a retired captain of the Johnstown Fire Department,  where he served for 28 years.  He proudly served in the  U.S. Army during  World War II and was formerly employed at Bethlehem Steel Corp. He was a barber at Conemaugh Valley Memorial Hospital for 40 years.  He played the accordian, mandolin and harmonica.  Friendly and well- liked by all, he will be sadly missed but never forgotten by his family, who so cherished him. Please rest well Daddy, as we have been so blessed to have had you in our lives. Joseph was a member of Visitation BVM Catholic Church, where funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m.  Tuesday, the Rev. Barry J. Baroni. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 11, 2013, at  Frank Duca Funeral Home, Westmont Chapel, 1622 Menoher Blvd.  Interment, Grandview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, family requests contributions be made to the Presbyterian Village, 220 Newry St., Hollidaysburg, Pa. 16648.  Condolences may be sent through www.ducafuneralhome.com.
