WINDBER — FERENS – Anna M., 93, Windber, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at her son and daughter-in-law’s home in Ypsilanti, Mich. She was born Jan. 15, 1920, in Somerset County, daughter of Michael and Mary (Hallima) Katchmeric. Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Steve “Alabam” Ferens. She was a member of St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church, Windber. Survivors include one son, Alfred (Pazienza) Katchmeric and daughter-in-law, Linda Katchmeric, Ypsilanti, Mich.; three grandchildren, Brian, Paul (Marlette) and Cheryl Katchmeric; two great-grandchildren, Matthew and Catherine; one brother, Andrew Katchmarik; one sister, Margaret Bonk; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters, Steve, Mike, George, Joe, John, Mary Obuck, Helen Wentzel and Susan Katchmeric. Cremation has taken place. The memorial Mass will be celebrated in May at St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church, Windber. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Windber. Contributions in her memory may be made to the church.
