Brenda L. Rice

JOHNSTOWN — RICE – Brenda L. “B,” “Bski,” 56, Johnstown, peacefully passed away surrounded by her family and friends March 8, 2013, at Memorial Medical Center. Jr., New Paris; John (Dianne Sincak), Johnstown; Teri (Greg Pavlosky), Johnstown; Jennifer (Kevin Priest), Johnstown; Jessica (Ray Shamer), Pasadena, Md.; and Dr. Mike (Heather Brallier), Johnstown. Also former sister-in-law, Kathy Perry Rice, Johnstown. Adored aunt to Malinda (Manus Walsh), Carla, Laura, Anne (Dennis Croyle), Adam, Erin, Ryan, Sarah (Tom Riffle), Michael (Brittany Baumbaugh), Carly, Laura, Trey, Colton, Aiden and Alicia, and great-nieces  and great-nephews, Katie, Mick, Taylor, Madeline, Max, Rachael, Bella, Gabby and Geonna. Treasured friend of Carol and Ralph Cecere, Pam and Larry Hoover, Shirl Jaber, Alice and Albert Koza, Denny McDowell and Melinda Prescott. She will be sadly missed by her Dollar Tree family and all who knew her. A central part of her family, Brenda was an ardent Barry Manilow fan and an avid reader. She loved going to the beach with her family, was ever present at nieces’ and nephews’ activities and cherished sunny summer days gathering at Mum-Mum’s pool. Her family, especially the children, were her life. She was an active supporter of the military and enthusiastically spearheaded many fundraising events for various causes that were dear to her heart. If Brenda saw something she thought someone would like or enjoy, she bought it for a “just because” gift. She always shared her cooking and baking by graciously inviting her family and friends to her home for impromptu dinners, parties and backyard fires and games. The family is most appreciative of the tender care given to Brenda by the staff of 7 Rose and 6 Ashman. Memorial contributions may be made to Operation Welcome Home Maryland, c/o Jessica Shamer, 7958 Farmingdale Court, Pasadena, Md. 21122 or Cuddles for Kids, c/o the Community Foundation, 116 Market St., Johnstown, Pa. 15901.
