STREET, MD. — HOUGH – Wilda M., 87, Hart Heritage Estate, Street, Md., and former resident of Portage for 65 years, passed away Feb. 2, 2012. Born Sept. 4, 1924, in South Fork, to the late Charles and Helen (Burnheimer) Douglas. Survived by beloved husband of 65 years, Frank “Sandy” Hough, whom she married on Oct. 19, 1946, in Baltimore, Md.; daughters, Sandra, wife of Wendell Myers, Davidsonville, Md.; Jill, fiancee of Joel Offman, Wichita, Kan.; and Amy, wife of Andy Lane, Jarrettsville, Md.; sisters, Ruth Granahan and Shirley Alban, Baltimore, Md.; and Peggy Fresch, South Fork; sister-in-law, Vivian Douglas, South Fork; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and five granddogs. Preceded in death by parents; son-in-law, Charles “Mac” McLeod; sisters, Dorothy Cullen, Ruby Hechler and Almeda Jones; brother, Meade Douglas; and brothers-in-law, Art Cullen, Si Hechler, Ed Jones, Joseph Granahan, Nelson Alban and Raymond Fresch. While a resident of Portage, Wilda was a devoted member of Bethany United Methodist Church and an active member of the Amicae Class, having served several terms as class secretary. She also was instrumental in organizing their famous gob sales for many years. In addition, Wilda was a volunteer with the Lee Hospice for more than eight years and took great pride in helping others in their time of need. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Jean H. Kinley Funeral Home, Portage, where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, the Rev. Mary Ann Long, officiating. Interment, Prospect Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Bethany United Methodist Church, 700 Farren St., Portage, Pa. 15946.
