George F. Kane (Katancik) Jr.

GRANADA HILLS, CALIF. — KANE (KATANCIK) – George F. Jr., 61, Granada Hills, Calif., formerly of Johnstown, passed away Dec. 30, 2012, at his home in Granada Hills, Calif. Born June 13, 1951, in Johnstown, son of George Sr. and Alice (Sirokman) Katancik. A 1969 graduate of Johnstown High School, the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown and St. Francis University in Loretto. George worked in labor relations in the Johnstown area for a number of years prior to his relocation to the Los Angeles area where he worked professionally as a human resources director for several companies including NBC, Viacom, Sony and St. Jude Medical. George’s true passion was music, writing and performing as a vocalist, bass and guitar player. He performed with local bands in the Johnstown area for many years, highlighted by a concert appearance with Jack Shaw as a warm up for Johnny Cash. Survived by beloved wife, Pat (Geyer); parents, George Sr. and Alice; sister, Nancy (Katancik) Dessy; brother, James Katancik; and his treasured dogs, Krista, Kerry and Jake. George’s parents have planned Mass in memorandum to be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at Resurrection Catholic Church on Chestnut Street in Cambria City, Johnstown.
