HOLLIDAYSBURG — GASTON – Richard M. Sr., 85, went to be with the Lord Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, at the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home. Born Feb. 1, 1927, son of the late Merle A. and Edna Mae (Gindlesperger) Gaston. Richard was the husband of the late Lois LaVerne (Brumbaugh) Gaston, whom he married Sept. 27, 1945. He is survived by his children, Richard M. Jr., husband of Roberta Gaston, Osterburg; Deborah A., wife of Jennings Smith, Osterburg; Jerry J., husband of Pamela D. Gaston, Osterburg; Suzanne M., wife of William B. Jones, Greencastle; and Bonnie L., wife of Steven W. Pittman, Hopewell; 13 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Matthew Allen Gaston; brother, Kenneth Gaston; and sister, Violet Ott. Richard was a graduate of Richland High School. He served in the U.S. Army and was a contractor. A member of Chestnut Ridge Independent Fellowship Church. He enjoyed bowling, square dancing, fishing, hunting and going to Florida. Friends and family will be received at Chestnut Ridge Independent Fellowship Church from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, and Thursday, Jan. 24, from 10 a.m. until the hour of the funeral service at 11 a.m., Pastor Daniel Oldham, officiating. Military rites will be accorded by Fort Bedford Honor Guard. Interment, Richland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Richard to Hollidaysburg Veterans Home, P.O. Box 319, Hollidaysburg, Pa. 16648. Arrangements by J.
