ARCH ROCK — BURKETT – Terry L., 65,   Arch Rock, passed away at his home Jan. 17, 2013, son of Mildred Burkett, South Fork, and the late Ronald Burkett. In addition to his mother, he is survived by a brother, Dennis Burkett, Kentucky. He graduated from the former Triangle Area High School, now known as Forest Hills High School. He received both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the Pennsylvania State University and retired as a science teacher in the Juniata County School district with 35 years of service. Terry was a member of JCEA and a lifetime member of PSEA and NEA. He also was a charter member of JCEA’s Relay for Life team. In addition to teaching for the Juniata County School District, Terry taught computer courses for Penn State’s Elderhostel program. He was a member of St. Stephens Lutheran Church, Licking Creek, and an active member of their church choir. Terry also enjoyed singing with The Boyz, a Juniata County teachers singing group. Terry was a social member of the Crawford-Brubaker Post of the VFW, the Tuscarora Chapter of Ducks Unlimited, where he was a longtime committee member and sponsor, a member of the Mifflin County Dog Training Club and an avid Penn State and Steelers football fan. Throughout his lifetime, he enjoyed all of nature’s beauty and the outdoor world. From an early age, he enjoyed fishing with his father and hunting. Later in life he pursued hobbies: Including beekeeping, orchid growing, ornithology (he was especially interested in eagle watching) and anything involving dogs. He was devoted to his friends and will always be remembered as a generous person. A plaque in memory of Terry will be installed at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church.  Memorial donations may be made to Lutheran Ministries Comfort Dog Fund, 333 W. Lake St., Addison, Ill. 60101 or call the LCC offices at (866) 455-6455.
