Ronald David Slick

NEW FLORENCE — SLICK – Ronald David, 87, New Florence, went to be with the Lord Jan. 28, 2013, at Arbutus Park Manor. Born Nov. 23, 1925, in Seward, son of the late Abner and Leah (Oster) Slick. Also preceded in death by wife, Virginia L. “Ginny” (Hull) Slick; granddaughter, Erin Hostetler; brother, John Slick; and sisters, Lorena Byroade, Rebecca Lichtenfels, Twila Walden and Betty Shearer. Survived by children, James Slick, and wife, Connie, New Florence; Nancy Hostetler, and husband, Roger, Salix; David Slick, and wife, Jeanne, Seward; and Steven Slick, Robinson; grandchildren, Becky Magdelinic, Michael Slick, Leslie Mangione and Timothy Slick; and great-grandchildren, Hunter Slick, Olivia Magdelinic, Matthew Mangione and Jacaline Slick. Ron was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be missed by all who knew him. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a retired carpenter. Member of Trinity Presbyterian Church and Hood-Vanatt American Legion Post 307, both New Florence. Former Sunday school superintendent, Sunday school teacher and lay speaker who enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family and friends. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Kenneth A. Stuart Funeral Home, 139 Ligonier St., New Florence, where service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, the Rev. Barry G. Young, officiating. Interment, Armagh Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be to Trinity Presbyterian Church, 117 Chestnut St., New Florence, Pa. 15944, or Arbutus Park Manor, 207 Ottawa St., Johnstown, Pa. 15904.
