LORETTO — BOGGETTA – Peter, 94, Loretto, formerly of Northern Cambria, passed away Feb. 6, 2013, at St. Benedict Manor. Born Jan. 20, 1919, in Marstellar, son of Martin and Frances (Chiaventone) Boggetta. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl (Smith) Boggetta, on May 31, 1976; daughter Betty “Lu Lu” Main; grandson, Donnie Boring Jr.; brothersa, Dominick, Robert, Martin and Charles; and sisters, Mary Crider, Catherine Hula and Edith Hula. Survived by children, Alice (James) Wensel, El Paso, Texas; Mary “Dolly” (Donald) Boring, Jersey Shore, Pa.; Eileen “Sissy” (Clyde) McConnell, New Alexandria, Pa.; Ruth (Bruce) Mason, Northern Cambria; Linda (Maurus) Hite, Loretto; Cathy (Albert) Weakland, Carrolltown; Eda (Richard) Barlow, Orlando, Fla.; Jeannie (Charles) Oblinsky, Clymer, Pa.; Joanie (James) Bender, Loretto; Peter Boggetta Jr., Loretto; and Barbara (Robert) Veneskey, Carrolltown; 34 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren; also numerous nieces and nephews. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Peter retired from UMWA as a coal miner after 42 years of service. Member of Moose Lodge 174 since 1947. He enjoyed auctions, flea marketing, playing cards and scratching lottery tickets. He especially loved spending time with his family and telling interesting stories about his life. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11, at Stevens Funeral Home Inc., 146 N. Main St., Carrolltown, Pa. 15722, where vigil for the deceased will be held. Additional viewing will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Carrolltown, the Rev. Jude W. Brady, OSB, celebrant.
