LOUDON, TENN. — BUTERA – William V., 98, Tellico Village Community, Loudon, Tenn., passed away Feb. 6, 2013. Bill was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh. He served in the Navy during World War II, having retired after 20 years in the Naval Reserves as a lieutenant commander. Bill was employed by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce for 30 years, and the last 10 years as their national membership manager. After retiring, he worked as a fund raiser for the National Association of Manufacturers and Business Industry Political Action. An avid runner, he completed two Boston marathons and eight Marine Corps marathons after the age of 55. Preceded in death by beloved wife, Helen; sister, Dorothy; niece, June Marhefka; and brother, John Grosnick. Survivors include his son, William (Martha), Loudon, Tenn.; grandchildren, Jennifer, Craig (Olivia) and Alison (Jason); four great-grandchildren whom he loved; niece, Joan Marhefka; and his dedicated caregiver, Dawn Thomas. Family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, Lenoir City, Tenn., with funeral service to follow at 11 a.m. Burial will be held at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors.
