Janice Gail Lape

FREDERICK, MD. — LAPE – Janice Gail, 55, Frederick, Md., formerly of Boswell, passed away Feb. 14, 2013, at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital, Rockville, Md. Born Nov. 13, 1957, in Johnstown, daughter of Robert E. and Dolores (Stahl) Lape of Davidsville. Janice was a 1975 graduate of North Star High School. She was employed as a health-care recruiter at Shady Grove Adventist Rehabilitation Hospital for eight years. Prior to that, she was employed at various other health-care facilities throughout Pennsylvania. Janice was a member of Maple Spring Church of the Brethren, Hollsopple, and Frederick Church of the Brethren, where she also sang in the choir. She was an avid bird-watcher, enjoyed golfing, reading, biking, skiing, exercise and making stain glass. Also a very active volunteer in the Frederick County Community. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her partner Sharon Jacko; siblings, William Lape, and wife, Ruth; Jeffrey Lape, and wife, Sharon; and Kevin Lape, and his late wife, Carol; niece, Lauren McDade, and husband, Shawn; and nephews, Daniel, Christopher, Austin, Steven, Andrew and Jonathan Lape; and great-nephew, Hudson William McDade. She also will be remembered by her roommate, Jeanne Jacko. Viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 109 Church Road, Davidsville. Viewing also will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Maple Spring Church of the Brethren, the Rev. Guy Myers, presiding. Interment, Maple Spring Cemetery.
