Altoona — GEORGIANA – Joan M., 50, Altoona, died Feb. 18, 2013, at her residence following an extended illness. She was born in Altoona, daughter of Richard and Elayne (Brannigan) Gooderham. She married Martin D. Georgiana on Nov. 29, 1980, in Altoona. Surviving are her husband; her parents of Altoona; a son, Adam Georgiana (Amy) of Duncansville, and their children, Jesse and Nicolas; three sisters, Cathy Shimminger (Mark) of Altoona, Peggy Karnes (Bill) of Altoona and Sharon Blair (Greg) of Reading; brothers-in-law, Jim Georgiana (Cheryl) of Duncansville, Vince Georgiana (Mary Lou) of Altoona, Dan Georgiana (Kirsten) of Mechanicsburg and John Georgiana (Lisa) of Hollidaysburg; a cousin, Kim Basal (Charlie) of Ashville; and many nieces, nephews and godchildren. Joan was preceded in death by a grandmother, Alma Brannigan. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and was employed by M&T Bank as a vice president in Central Techonology. She was a 1980 graduate of Bishop Guilfoyle High School and had received a degree in computer programming from Penn State University. Joan was very active with the Bishop Guilfoyle Alumni Association. She enjoyed shopping, spending time with family and friends and gardening with her grandchildren. Friends will be received from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 5519 Sixth Ave., Altoona, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church by Father Brian Saylor. Committal will be held at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Bishop Guilfoyle Spirit Scholarship, B.G. Spirit Scholarship, 2400 Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, Pa. 16602, in honor of Joan (Gooderham) Georgiana.
