WESTMONT — LANDIS – James, 89, Westmont, followed his loving wife to their heavenly home Feb. 6, 2012. Born May 15, 1922, in Johnstown, son of the late Perry and Mary (Glessner) Landis. Preceded in death by wife of 65 years, the former Marjorie Engelbach, on Feb. 6, 2012, and an infant daughter. Survived by daughter, Gail Landis, married to Doug Myers, Reading, Pa.; son, Gary, married to the former Melissa Pfendler, Johnstown; grandchildren, Erin, married to Joseph Miller; and Kelsey Landis; and great-granddaughter, Ryann Miller. James was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran. After his honorable discharge from the Army Air Corps, he attended the University of Pittsburgh, where he obtained his engineering degree. James later retired from Bethlehem Steel after 40 years as a supervisor of electrical engineering. James was a 32nd Degree Mason. Member of Altoona Consistory, Scottish Rite; Altoona Jaffa Shrine; and Johnstown Shrine Club. Also a member of Westmont Presbyterian Church. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Picking-Treece-Bennett Mortuary Inc., West Hills, 921 Menoher Blvd. where Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Westmont Presbyterian Church, the Rev. Douglas Stevens, officiating. Entombment, Grandview Mausoleum. Memorial contributions may be made to Jaffa Shrine Children’s Hospital or Westmont Presbyterian Church.
