JOHNSTOWN — SLAVICH– Michael P. Sr. “Mike P.,” 94, Johnstown, passd away Nov. 10, 2012, at his residence with his family at his side. Born Sept. 25, 1918, in Johnstown, son of Peter and Christina (Watach) Slavich. Preceded in death by parents; wife, Eva Bulick; sisters, Mary Slavich; Annie Molnar and Catherine Slavich; and brothers, Frank, John, Charles and Paul. Survived by children, Michael P. Jr., Johnstown; Patricia M., married to Harry Glowa, East Taylor; and Timothy J., married to former Peggy D. Chuk, Johnstown; grandaughters, Tiffany Ann, married to Dan Collins, and Mandy Marie Slavich; and great-grandsons, Zachery Wayne and Tyler John Collins. Brother of Helen Slavich, and Peter and Nicholas, all of Johnstown; and Steve, Norwalk, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Lifetime member of St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church and Franklin Borough Fire Co. A 1937 graduate of Franklin High School. He served on Franklin School Board and Franklin Borough Council and was Franklin Borough tax collector. Former campaign manager for John P. Murtha. Former Cub master for Cub Scouts. Enjoyed woodcrafting, the results of which he shared with many, including his church. He enjoyed model trains, especially steamer engines, and he loved country music. A retired electrician for Bethlehem Steel. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Henderson- Makuchan Funeral Home, Conemaugh, where Parastas will be sung at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral begins at 8:45 a.m. Wednesday with brief service at funeral home, continuing immediately at St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church, the Very Rev. Archpriest George Johnson. Interment will be held at St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Franklin Fire Co. or St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church Cemetery Endowment Fund. He blessed us so much, and we were honored to be his family.
