FERTIGS, PA. — KNAVEL – Phyllis Jean, 78, Davis Road, Fertigs, Pa., went to be with the Lord Monday morning, Oct. 29, 2012, at Oil City Presbyterian Home, following an extended illness. Born July 22, 1934, in Windber, daughter of the late Stanley S. Shull and Kathryn A. McQuinn. She was a 1952 graduate of Windber High School. Phyllis was a homemaker and the owner of Knavel’s Arts & Crafts, where she loved painting and making crafts. She loved planting and growing flowers. She also loved to sing and she sang with the sweet Adeline’s. Her favorite pastime was doing counting cross-stitch, stitching Santas to add to her many Santas she collected. Member of Pine City Free Methodist Church. Survived by husband, Marlen L. Knavel. They celebrated 60 years of marriage this past September. Also survived by brother, Jack Shull, Chicago, Ill.; children, Beata Miller, and husband, Gene, Venus; Cloyd Knavel, and companion, Darlene Merryman, Oil City; Roger Knavel, Venus; and Eric Knavel, and wife, Stacey, Venus; grandchildren, Lynette Miller, and husband, Mike, Oil City; Travis Miller, and wife, Shawna, Cranberry; Greg and Emma Knavel, Oil City; and Cora Knavel, Venus; and great-grandchildren, Niklos Kossman and Myah Miller. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. There will be no viewing or visitation. Service will take place at the convenience of the family.
