STRANGE CREEK, W.VA. —
FURST – Frederick Edward, 95, Strange Creek, W.Va., formerly of Johnstown, passed away Feb. 22, 2013, at home. He was born March 20, 1917, in Johnstown, son of the late Edward Tobias and Elizabeth Roth Furst. He was a retired steelworker for Bethlehem Steel with 30 years of service. An Air Force veteran of World War II and a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Johnstown. He enjoyed nature, gardening and woodworking. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Elizabeth Furst; brother, Edgar A. Furst; and nephew, Richard Cover. Surviving are son, Fred S. Furst, Johnstown; daughter, Janet Furst, Strange Creek, W.Va.; stepdaughter, Barbara A. Cover, Windber; grandchildren, Megan E. Curtis, Oak Hill, W.Va.; Erin M. Gentry, Herold, W.Va.; Seth Boggs, Strange Creek, W.Va.; Andrew S. Furst, Boulder, Colo.; Emmanuelle A. Furst, Boulder, Colo.; James S. Cover, Windber; and Ellen Beth Onderko, Poolesville, Md.; and beloved great-grandchildren. Service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, at Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway, W.Va., Pastor Bryon Bukovesky, officiating. Friends may call two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013, at Grandview Cemetery, Johnstown, Pastor Van Dyk, officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the American Red Cross, 113 Lakeview Drive, Charleston, W.Va. 25313.
