Robert G. Porter

JOHNSTOWN — PORTER – Robert G., 77, Johnstown, died Feb. 28, 2013. Born Sept. 20, 1935, in Johnstown, son of Robert E and Susan (Kepple). Preceded in death by parents and daughter, Deborah Ruth. Survived by wife of 55 years, Carolyn (Gohn); children, Sharon, married to Paul Stephenson, Davidsville; and David, married to the former Judy Kratzer, Ferndale; and grandchildren, Jennifer Stephenson, and special friend, Ryan Wilkins; Justin Stephenson; David R. Porter, married to the former Nicole Mroczka; and Matthew Porter. Life member of Ferndale Sportsmen’s and Ferndale Volunteer Fire Department, where he served as chief. Member of Moxham GBU, New Baltimore Sportsmen’s and Schellsburg VFW. Former employee of U.S. Steel and retired from Pennsylvania Bureau of Forestry Service as a forest fire specialist supervisor. He served in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard. He loved fishing, camping and telling stories to his grandchildren. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at John Henderson Co. Funeral Home, 215 Central Ave., where funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, the Rev Edward DeVore. Interment, Grandview Cemetery. The Porter family would like to thank the staff at Golden Living Center for the care they gave our father during his stay.
