NORTHERN CAMBRIA — FRYCKLUND – Harry E., 77, Northern Cambria, went to be with the Lord Sunday, Aug. 5, 2012, at UPMC Bedford Memorial Hospital, after a lengthy and courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease. Born Jan. 18, 1935, in Hastings, son of Robert and Romayne (Simpson) Frycklund. Preceded in death by parents and brother, Robert Jr. Survived by wife of 57 years, former Shirley Sherwin, whom he married Feb. 19, 1955, in Barnesboro; daughter, Lisa, and husband, Marvin Bergman, Altoona; grandson, Geoffrey Bergman, and girlfriend, Courtney Burd, Altoona; sister, Lois Stiver, Indiana; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. A U.S. Army veteran and served from April 29, 1957, to April 15, 1959, and was a member of the Army Reserve until 1963. Formerly employed by Al’s Tire Service, Barnesboro; Barnes and Tucker Mining Co.; and Prudential Insurance. Member of St. John’s United Methodist Church. Active member of Gideons International. He was most recently a published author in Reminisce Magazine, an accomplishment of which he was very proud. He enjoyed sports and woodworking, and was very active and loyal in his church and community. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend, who will be missed by all who knew him. Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Long-Contres Funeral Home Inc., Northern Cambria, where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, the Rev. Darlene Wiewiora. Interment, North Barnesboro Cemetery.
