JOHNSTOWN — SHELDON – Dale J. “Jerry,” 67, Johnstown, passed away Feb. 26, 2013, at home. Born Feb. 18, 1946, in Johnstown, son of the late Samuel and Pauline Sheldon. Preceded in death by son, Samuel Sheldon; brother, Roger Sheldon; and sister, Lila Fay Sheldon. Survived by wife, Anna Sheldon, to whom he was married for 25 years and loved so dearly; daughter and caregiver, DeAnna Sheldon, Johnstown; stepdaughters, Cherie, wife of Reubon Yoder, Jerome; and Rebecca Ream, Johnstown; and loving grandchildren that were his world, Lilie and Xander Smith, Brennan Knipple and Karissa and Christian Yoder. Also survived by sister, Jean Huntsman, Altoona. Dale was a graduate of Richland High School. He served in the Air Force as an engine man and was a flight crew member on the F-4c Phantom fighter jet during Vietnam. Dale loved cutting timber. He cut timber around Johnstown and Dilltown hills for more than 45 years. He owned and operated Sheldon Lumber Co. before his health made him stop. He also loved to hunt, but was the best outstanding trout fisherman … “the trout feared the mention of his name.” This was his No. 1 slogan for years. He will be sadly missed by his family and everyone that knew him … never forgotten. At the request of the family, visitation and funeral service will be private.
