Karen Messina

MADISON, OHIO — MESSINA – Karen, 58, Madison, Ohio, beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away peacefully Feb. 25, 2013, in the comfort of her home with her husband and two children by her side after a 10-year battle with illness. Karen was born July 6, 1954, in Johnstown. She has lived in Madison for 32 years. Karen married the love of her life on Nov. 23, 1974. She enjoyed cooking, shopping, exercising, and most of all, spending time with her four beautiful grandchildren. She worked as a medical receptionist for Dr. Frank Sailors and Associates for 15 years and as a home childcare provider for many years. Survived by husband of 38 years, Robert; daughter, Stacy (James) Poe, Madison; son, R.J., Madison; grandchildren, MaKayla, Marissa, James Mason and Marshall Poe; brothers, Tony (Sharon) DePetro, Walt DePetro and Joe DePetro Sr.; and sisters, Mary (Mick) Cidor and Tanya (Ben) Wilshire, all from Pennsylvania. Preceded in death by parents, Tony and Mary DePetro. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 3, at The Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River St., Madison. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 4, at Immaculate Conception Church, Madison. She will be laid to rest Tuesday, March 5, at Richland Cemetery in Johnstown.
