COLUMBIA — HITI – Sister Mary Lawrence, ASC, 89, died Sunday morning, March 3, 2013, at St. Anne’s Retirement Community. Born in Johnstown, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Teresa Jenc Hiti. Sister Mary Lawrence entered in the Adorer’s of the Blood of Christ in 1939 and made her first profession at St. Joseph’s Convent in 1941. Sister taught elementary education in several states for 50 years. She served as principal, organist, choir director and librarian. Sister Mary Lawrence also was a poet and prolific writer. Survived by sister, Valarie Podplesky, Johnstown. Preceded in death by an infant brother; infant twin brother and sister; and sister, Jennie Hiti. Sister Mary Lawrence will be received at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 7, in the Chapel of St. Anne’s Retirement Community, 3952 Columbia Ave., Columbia, Pa., followed by the recitation of the Rosary. A wake service will be held at 11:30 a.m., followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 2 p.m., the Rev. Ernest Krantz, celebrant. Interment to follow at St. Joseph’s Convent Cemetery.
