PORTAGE — STANCOVICH – Ann L., 93, Portage, went to be with the Lord No. 16, 2012. Born Jan. 29, 1919, in Jamestown, daughter of Albert and Julia (Buffick) Kopnicky. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Frank Stancovich; and these siblings: brothers, John, Steve, Joseph, Albert and Michael Kopnicky, and sisters, Margaret Kopnicky and Mary Turzak. Survived by children, Mary Ann Lapina, and friend, Jim McClelland, Ebensburg; Frank Stancovich, and wife, Gloria (Prozialeck), South Carolina; Kenneth Stancovich, and wife, Bernadine (Valine), North Huntington; and Joseph Stancovich, and wife, Gail (Helsel), Portage; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Also survived by sisters-in-law, Verna Moll and June Stancovich, and numerous nieces and nephews. Ann was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She enjoyed knitting, playing bingo and pinochle, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Matthew R. Decort Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., Portage. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, Hammers Street, Portage, Father Walter Moll and Father Joseph Janiszeski, co-concelebrants. Committal, St. Mary Cemetery, Portage.
