LANTZY – Francis J., 92, Spangler, died Jan. 5, 2013, at Golden Living Center-HAIDA, Hastings. Born July 10, 1920, in Spangler, son of Edwin I. and Aleda (Hoppel) Lantzy. Preceded in death by parents, and brothers, Carl and Ed. Survived by wife of 69 years, former Elaine Farabaugh; children, Karen Farrell; Pat and Cary Lantzy, all of Northern Cambria; Ken Lantzy, Onancock, Va.; Linda (John) Kline, Nicktown; Leanne (Angelo) Mondi, Kersey; Joe Lantzy, Creekside; and Chris Lantzy, Smyrna, Del.; 18 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Retired coal miner. Also retired as an insurance agent from American General Life Insurance Co. Member of former Holy Cross Catholic Church, now Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Member UMWA Local 1269, Spangler VFW, and lifetime member of Spangler Fire Company. He loved camping and golfing. His most enjoyable moments were times spent with his wife, children and grandchildren. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Long-Contres Funeral Home Inc., Northern Cambria, where rosary will be recited at 3 p.m. followed by vigil for the deceased. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Prince of Peace Chapel, where military rites will be conducted by local veterans groups. Committal, Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society, 1907 Bigler Ave., Northern Cambria, Pa. 15714, or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, Tenn. 38101-9929.
