JOHNSTOWN — WOJCIK – Leo Joseph, died peacefully Jan. 4, 2013, surrounded by his loving family. Born Dec. 7, 1924, in Clymer, son of the late Leo Joseph Sr. and Susan (Harchick) Wojcik. Preceded in death by brother, Frank Bober; and sisters, Mildred Bober, Frances Bober, Lillian Bober, Julia Bober and Carolyn Bober. Survived by wife of 63 years, the former Julia A. Herbert, Johnstown; son, William, married to Suzanne (Weaver), Atlanta, Ga.; daughters, Sharon, married to Kenneth Kamicker, Mars, Pa.; and Connie, married to Dave Mercik, Johnstown; and grandchildren, Julie Anne Mercik and Leah Mercik. Leo was a miner for Bethlehem Mines. Member of Resurrection Parish, formerly St. Stephens Catholic Church, where he was a member for 60 years and very proud to be president of Holy Name Society and was an usher and altar server. He was very proud to be a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, having served in a number of South Pacific campaigns, including Okinawa, Japan in World War II. Member of American Legion in Central City and VFW of Cambria City. He was an avid outdoors sportsman and was a very proud, avid polka dancer with his wife. Leo was proud of the fact that he built his own house and had sent all three of his children through college. He loved life and being surrounded by his family, including his favorite dog, Kipper. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be sadly missed and never forgotten. Service was held privately at the family’s convenience.
