JOHNSTOWN — RAYHA– Stephen C. Jr, “Shorty,” 88, Johnstown, died Jan. 11, 2013, at the Lutheran Home of Johnstown. Born March 4, 1924, in Johnstown, son of Stephen C. and Nellie M. (Gresik) Rayha Sr. Preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Joseph, Charles and James Rayha; and sister, Angie. He is survived by his children, Stephanie, wife of Fred Galiote; Carolyn, wife of Anthony Petrusic; and David, married to Elizabeth Farling; grandchildren, Brian, married to Jennifer Aschom; Jenny, married to Brian Onderick; Lori, married to Matt Piro; Jason, married to Nikki Garbinski; Aaron; Jamie, married to Nicole McDermott; Matthew; Zachary; and Nicholas; and great-grandchildren, Christopher, Lucca Bella, Brayden, Dominic, Ayla, Camden, Tyler and Amber. Brother of Dorothy “Tootsie,” wife of Frank Janakovic; William, married to Eileen Smolen; Jenny “Jeannie,” wife of John W. Steele; Fran; Nancy, wife of Thomas Gordon; sisters-in- law, Jan, Pat and Terry; and numerous nieces and nephews. Shorty was retired from Bethlehem Steel Corp. and a proud U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served several European tours. He was an avid organic gardener and wine maker. Shorty’s favorite time was family gatherings. Member of Resurrection Parish, where funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Father Barry Baroni officiating. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home Inc., 710 Broad St., where vigil for the deceased will be held. A private committal will be held at Richland Cemetery, with military honors by Menoher VFW Post 155 Ritual Team. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of the Lutheran Home of Johnstown and the staff of LaurelWood Personal Care Center for their compassionate care over the last few years.
