ANN ARBOR, MICH. —
HIMLIN – Robert R., Ann Arbor, Mich., passed away Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. He was 76 years old. Born Aug. 11, 1936, in Johnstown, son of William and Alice (Mallory) Himlin. Bob graduated from Johnstown High School, Class of 1954. He was an Air Force veteran, serving during the Korean War. He was a retired accountant with Consumers Energy, Ann Arbor. Bob enjoyed jazz music and playing the organ. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed watching a variety of sports, especially boxing as well as U of M sporting events and the local Detroit teams. Most of all, he was a family man and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by seven children, Robert W. Himlin (Cathy), Rebecca Himlin, Mary Dimo (Walid), Brian Himlin, Jonathan Himlin, Jeffrey Himlin (Chandra) and Kevin Himlin; their mother, Mary M. Himlin; 13 grandchildren, Lorelei, Noah, Amanda, Ayanda, Aviwe, Zenani, Khalid, Christian, Chynelle, Jordan, Courtney, Ciara and Cayla; his brother, David; sister, Mary; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, David P. Himlin. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, Jan. 15, at 10 a.m. at Nie Family Funeral Home, Liberty Road Chapel, 3767 W. Liberty Road, Ann Arbor. Interment will follow the service at Bethlehem Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
