PORTAGE — FRICK – Samantha Jeanne Mondick, 39, Portage, passed away Feb. 1, 2013, at Memorial Medical Center. Born Aug. 27, 1973, in Johnstown, the daughter of John and Patricia (Sheppard) Mondick Sr. Preceded in death by maternal grandfather, Eugene Sheppard, and paternal grandparents, Michael and Margaret Mondick. Survived by parents; daughters, Kara Goughnour, Portage; Pepper, Kendra and Berlynn Frick, all of Davidsville; and Ruca Burkett, Portage; and grandson, Tanner Gailey. Sister of John Mondick Jr., West Chester; Jeff Mondick, Kent, Wash.; Matthew Mondick, Beaverdale; First Sergeant Jeremy Mondick, Fort Riley, Kan.; and Mark Mondick, Loretto. Also survived by grandmother, Margaret Sheppard-Brothers, Portage; aunt, Suzanne DeCort- Brink, Portage; special friend, Mick Sekerak; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Sam was a beloved mother, daughter, sister and friend and was a former RN at Lee and Conemaugh hospitals in Johnstown. She loved her family above all else and was fiercely loyal. She enjoyed going to music festivals, had a true love of music and was fond of all animals. Friends received from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Serenko-Claar Funeral Home, PC, Portage, where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Pastor Michael Long officiating. Committal, Mount Union Cemetery, Summerhill Township. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Cambria County Humane Society.
