CENTRAL CITY — BURINDA – Joseph Frank, 93, Central City, died Feb. 6, 2013, at Somerset Hospital. Born June 14, 1919, in Blough, son of Joseph and Anna (Bubenko) Burinda. Survived by son, William (Sandy) Burinda, Lakeville, Minn., and his family, Carrie Burinda, St. Paul, Minn., and Joseph (Heidi) Burinda; and great-grandchildren, Thomas, Alexa, Natasha and Danika, Burlington, Wis.; daughter, Vera (Edwin Jay) Burns, Saltsburg, Pa., and her family, Shelly (Brian) McCoy; and great-grandchildren, Sean and Brandon, Lincoln University, Pa.; and Kristy (Clint) Weimer; and great-grandchildren, Cheyenne and William, New Alexandria, Pa.; and son, James Burinda, Johnstown. Also survived by sister, Helen Szymonifka, Carteret, N.J.; and brother, Paul (Rosemary), Central City. Preceded in death by parents; wife, Mary (Shutack); sons, Joseph and Rodney; and brothers and sisters, Louis, Stephen, John, Mary Kolonich and Emma Shuster. Joe was a U.S. Army veteran of the 131st Army Battalion, D Unit, having served in the European Theater during World War II. He worked in local coal mines and at Bethlehem Steel. Member of St. Mary’s Russian Orthodox Church. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Mulcahy Funeral Home, Central City, where brief service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, followed by funeral service at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Russian Orthodox Church, Father Elijah Bremer. Interment, parish cemetery. Military graveside rites by Central City American Legion and VFW posts.
