DAVIDSVILLE — PITERA – Robert J. “Pickles,” 78, Davidsville, died Feb. 9, 2013, at Memorial Medical Center. Born Aug. 14, 1934, in Windber, son of Stanley and Janet (Yama) Pitera. Preceded in death by parents, and daughter-in-law, Ruthie (Seganos) Pitera. Survived by wife of 53 years, Rose M. (Yuschick); sons, Jeffrey R., Johnstown, and Brad C., married to Mandy (Hintosh), Davidsville; grandson, Logan Pitera; sisters, Janie Freeburn, and friend, Tony, Palo Alto, Calif.; Frances, married to Carl Pataky, El Paso, Texas; and Carol, married to Frank Meyers, Endicott, N.Y.; uncle and aunt, Ed and Mildred Pitera, Windber; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Phillipi, Jennerstown; and numerous nieces and nephews. A graduate of Richland High School. He played for Hollsopple in the Somerset County Baseball League and was a coach for Conemaugh Township Baseball League. A retired employee of Galliker’s Dairy, Johnstown. Member of St. Anne Catholic Church, Davidsville. Bob was an avid Steelers and baseball fan. He also enjoyed gardening and listening to polka music. Viewing from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 109 Church Road, Davidsville, where a vigil for the deceased will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday. Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Anne Church, the Rev. Father Michael Lewandowski, OFM, Conv., celebrant. Committal, Richland Mausoleum.
