GRIGSON - Mabel
GRIGSON - Mabel "Betsy," 73, of 7 Lake Somerset Circle, Sun City, Hilton Head, Bluffton, S.C., died Oct. 31, 2005, at her home after an extended illness. Born May 11, 1932, in Colver, she was the daughter of the late Christian D. and Mabel (Thomas) Doerr. She was raised in Ebensburg, and spent most of her professional life in Lakewood, Ohio, as an elementary teacher. She then moved to Sun City, Hilton Head, in 1997, to enjoy her retirement years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph P. Ricupero; her sister, Margaret Stoy; and her brother, Charles, who was killed in action in Korea. Among her survivors are her four children, Sharon Stern, Tampa, Fla.; Joseph P. Ricupero, and wife, Jan, Cleveland; David K. Ricupero, Lakewood; and Charles W. Ricupero, and wife Robin, Canadensis. She also is survived by 11 grandchildren, Brandy Jo Stern, and husband, Gregory Narducci, Debary, Fla.; Robert J. Stern, and wife, Tiffany, Debary; Crista and Joseph Ricupero, Cleveland; Kelly Ann, Brynn, David and Jenna Ricupero, Lakewood; and Christopher, Emma and Sarah Ricupero, Canadensis. She also is survived by three great-grandchildren, Ethan Narducci and Dustin and Jacob Stern, Debray. Also survived by her brothers, Christian Doerr, Phoenix, and Robert Doerr, Kittanning, and her sister, Doris Mackenzie, Sun City, Hilton Head. She earned her bachelor and master degrees in elementary education at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and taught first grade in the Lakewood Ohio School System for 34 years. She retired from teaching in 1994, and relocated to Sun City, Hilton Head. She belonged to the Ohio Education Association and the Retired Teacher's Association and was active in the Sun City Computer Club, Bridge Club, Tennis Club and the Bulls Investment Club. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Congregational Church, Lakewood. Services will be private with interment at Lloyd Cemetery, Ebensburg, under the direction of Askew-Houser Funeral Homes Inc., Ebensburg.
HANH - Jean
HAHN - Jean "Jay" (Krisko), 89, died Oct. 31, 2005, at Baytree Nursing Center, Palm Harbor, Fla. A native of Conemaugh, she was a longtime resident of Johnstown before moving to Palm Harbor earlier this year. She was a loving daughter, wife and number one mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who will be truly missed by all who were blessed to know and love her. Mrs. Hahn is preceded in death by her parents, Stephen Krisko and Anna (Hanchak), and her best friend and husband of 59 years, George Franklin Hahn. Also preceding her in death are her brothers, Michael and George; sisters, Helen Wojtowicz, Marie Thibault and Anna Hynes; and son-in-law, Louis R. Mellon. Mrs. Hahn is survived by her daughter, Michele Mellon, Palm Harbor; her son, Jeff Hahn, Tarpon Springs, Fla.; granddaughters, Elizabeth Wilson, Belle Vernon; Nancy Michaels, Westmoreland City; Erica Hahn, St. Petersburg, Fla.; and Kristin Leonard, Tampa, Fla.; and great-grandchildren, Trisa, Jordan, Tyler and Jaclyn. Also survived by brother, Stephen Krisko, and his wife, Betty, Mineral Point, and his sisters, Lis Pion, North Brookfield, Mass.; Irene Lechowicz, Brookfield, Mass.; and Regina Curley, Upper Deerfield, N.J. Mrs. Hahn was a lifelong Catholic and member of Visitation of the BVM Catholic Church. Viewing will take place from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at John Henderson Co. Funeral Home, 215 Central Ave., where vigil service will be held Thursday. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Visitation of the BVM Catholic Church, with burial ceremonies following at Grandview Cemetery. HANZEL - Joseph
HANZEL - Joseph John "Joe," 90, of Dahlgren, Va., died Saturday, Oct. 29, 2005, in Charlottesville, Va., at Hospice House. Born in Portage, Mr. Hanzel grew up in Johnstown, and graduated from Johnstown High School in 1934. He entered the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1935, and was enrolled for 2 1/2 years in the Tree Army section of the Corps. The CCC was authorized by Franklin D. Roosevelt in the 1930s to put young men to work during the Depression. He came to Dahlgren in 1941, and retired in 1970, as a contracting officer from NSWC. His career at NSWC was interrupted by serving in the Maritime Service during World War II. He was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel, Dahlgren, since 1941, and was a member of St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church, Colonial Beach, Va. He was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 4034, Fredericksburg, Va., and was an outdoorsman and an avid fisherman. The widower of Lucille L. Hanzel, he is survived by a daughter, Helen Moyer, Shipman, Va.; a son, Joseph J. Hanzel Jr., Palo Alto, Calif.; a sister, Theresa Gorman, Annandale, Va.; a brother, Ladislaus Hanzel, Fort Wayne, Ind.; a granddaughter, Amy Moyer, Charlottesville, Va.; and a great-granddaughter, Colleen, Charlottesville. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert, Louis and John, and a sister, Mary Murray. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, at Sacred Heart Chapel, with burial to follow in History Land Memorial Park, King George, Va. A reception will immediately follow in the parish hall of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, King George. MUNDORF - Floyd
MUNDORF - Floyd G. Jr., 48, of Willowick, Ohio, formerly of Elton, passed away on Oct. 29, 2005, at Lake West Hospital, Willoughby, Ohio. Born June 30, 1957, in Cleveland, son of Floyd G. Sr. and N. Joyce (Gearhart) Mundorf. Preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Walter and Bertha Mundorf, and maternal grandfather, Forrest E. Gearhart. In addition to his parents, he is survived by sisters, Deann J., wife of Thomas Lee and Cynthia Setzer, all of Holly Hill, Fla.; niece, Shawna (Hayes) Stubblefield, High Point, N.C.; nephew, Shane Setzer, Holly Hill; and devoted friend, Eric Lacroix, Willoughby. Floyd graduated from Forest Hills High School in 1975 and attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania. In 2000, he received a bachelor's degree in computer science from Bryant -- Stratton College, graduating magna cum laude. Floyd was employed as a computer engineer at ABB of Wickliffe, Ohio. He enjoyed playing the piano and working on computers. Floyd's love of music and his family devotion will be greatly missed. Friends received from 1 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 until time of service at 11 a.m. Thursday at The Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, with the Rev. John J. Palko officiating. Interment will be at Dunmyer Cemetery, Elton.
SATTEL - Dr. Edward
SATTEL - Dr. Edward, 76, Hollsopple, died Oct. 30, 2005, at Memorial Medical Center. Born May 5, 1929, in Johnstown, son of Dr. Alvin and Lena (Cohen) Sattel. Preceded in death by parents; wife, former Alyce Veigle; and daughter, Sandra Sattel. Survived by children, Rosalyn Hoffman, Pittsburgh, and James, married to former Rebecca Rightnour, Newport, R.I.; grandchildren, Alycia and Julia Hoffman, James Sattel and Gretchen Alyce Maynard; sister, Dr. Freda Sattel, Johnstown; and brother, Dr. Leonard Sattel, Moorestown, N.J. Ed was a member of the YMCA and loved fishing and gardening. He was a practicing optometrist for 52 years. A graduate of Westmont High School and Pennsylvania College of Optometry. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Grandview Cemetery, Rabbi Irvin Brandwein. Interment, Grandview Cemetery. Arrangements by John Henderson Co. Funeral Home.

SHONTOFSKI - Mia Carmella Julia, infant daughter of Sgt. Matthew and Victoria (Gallucci) Shontofski, Woodbridge, Va., died Oct. 28, 2005, at Dewitt Army Hospital, Fort Belvior, Va. Preceded in death by grandfather, Ralph Gallucci Jr. Survived by parents; brother, Damek; grandmother, Victoria (Arcail) Gallucci, Jenners Crossroads; grandparents, Brenda (Croyle) and Charles Shontofski, Kantner; and numerous other relatives. SWITZLER - L. Elizabeth "Betty," 81, 104 Short Drive, Ebensburg, died Oct. 29, 2005, at Memorial Medical Center. Born May 26, 1924, in Ebensburg, daughter of Anicettus and Della (Byrne) Illig. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Walter Switzler, in 1972; infant brothers, Luke and Augustine Illig; brothers, Ronald Illig and Francis "Fritz" Illig; and sisters, Rita McCoy and Nancy Lauer. Survived by these brothers and sisters: Jean Welker, Lady Lake, Fla.; Robert Illig, San Diego; James Illig, Delphos, Ohio; and Leonard Illig, Tiffin, Ohio. Although she was not blessed with children of her own, she was the beloved aunt of 56 nieces and nephews and over a hundred great-nieces and nephews. She was retired from the Somerset State Hospital with nearly 20 years of service. Member of Holy Name Catholic Church and VFW Auxiliary Post 4963, both of Ebensburg. Betty was an active member of Ebensburg Senior Citizens and she leaves behind many close and dear friends. TILLEY - Ivy M., 88, Laurel Wood Convalescent Center, formerly of Menoher Heights, died Oct. 30, 2005, at home. Born Dec. 6, 1916, in Johnstown, daughter of Jackson and Maude (Bowers) Horner. Preceded in death parents; husband, Aldridge S.; brothers, Amos and Harry; and sisters, Eunice Thomas, Ruby Bassett, Goldie Clark, Catherine Eppley and Gladys Rose. Survived by sons, Raymond E., married to former Louise Costanzo, Ocala, Fla, and James E., married to former Joyce Dudak, Johnstown.; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. ZEMET - Charles B., age 84, of Richland Township, formerly of Belmont, died Oct. 28, 2005, at Arbutus Park Manor. Born May 29, 1921, in Barnesboro, son of Benjamin and Josephine Zemet. Preceded in death by parents; brothers, Theodore and Edwin R.; and sister, Wanda, wife of Anthony Cavallo. Survived by loving wife, Jean (McNulty) Zemet. Adored by daughters, Elizabeth "Beth," married to James Bright, and Carolyn "Lynn" Miljenovich, all of Johnstown; grandchildren, C.J. Gehlman, and wife, Jenny, Florida; Frank Cordek IV, California; Benjamin Gehlman, and wife, Melissa, Johnstown; Suzanne Miljenovich, Reston, Va.; and Kaitlyn Miljenovich, Johnstown; and great-grandchildren, Dustine, Luke, Nicholas, Elaina and Cameron Gehlman. Also survived by a sister, Martha Zemet, Pittsburgh; sister-in-law, Marlene Zemet, Gibsonia; and numerous nieces and nephews. Formerly employed by Glenn L. Martin Aircraft Co., Baltimore, Md. Owner and operator of Zemet's Mobil Inc., Ohio Street, Johnstown. Past president of Pennsylvania Gasoline Association. Also served on the Greater Johnstown School Board. Member of Moxham Lutheran Church and previously served terms on the church council. Charles' love, time and devotion will always be cherished by his family and sadly missed.
