CARDONE - Antonio, beloved husband, father and grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away Dec. 21, 2005, from cancer. Born April 13, 1910, to Jack and Anna Cardone. Born in Windber, Pa., and married to Agnes Papovich in 1943, before moving to California in 1954. He is survived by his wife, Agnes, and sons, Anthony George of Carlisle, Pa., and Jack Reynold Cardone of Carlisle. He is also survived by granddaughter, Cassandra Cardone, who has resided with him since birth, and many other grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, John Cardone (Julie) and Jack Cardone, and two sisters, Millie Reo and Dolores (Ray) Costlow. Preceded in death by son, Thomas John Cardone; four sisters: Connie Pugh, Mary Cardone, Sally Rosetti and Angeline Mucci; and a brother, Cosmo Cardone.

James (Connie) of Northern Cambria, and Dennis J. (Denise) of Hastings R.D.; nephews, Brian, D. Jesse and Adam J.; and great-nephew, Gabriel Vincent. FITZSIMMONS - Dolores Evelyn, 75, of Sunrise, Fla., formerly of Penn Hills, died Jan. 3, 2006, in Florida. Born Nov. 10, 1930, in Johnstown, daughter of Eugene H. and Evelyn Mae (Bowser) Cope. Preceded in death by parents; husbands, Robert Lee Ferguson and Clarence Fitzsimmons; and a sister, Betty Mae Massimo. Survived by children, Donna Lee Ferguson, married to Marc Furon, Seal Beach, Calif.; Lori Ferguson, Plantation, Fla.; Joseph Ferguson, married to the former Nancy Loffredo, Irwin; Beverly Ferguson, married to Mark Scherrah, Penn Hills; and Chuck Ferguson, Mount Dora, Fla.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Dolores was formerly active with the Cub and Boy Scouts and politics. Formerly employed by the county of Allegheny. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the John Henderson Co. MANGUS - Esther Mae
MANGUS - Esther Mae, celebrated 90 years in August, passed away Dec. 27, 2005, in Chesterfield, Mo., while visiting her son, Dennis, and family. Beloved wife of the late Edward Mangus. Dear mother of Warren Mangus of Largo, Fla.; B. Lorraine Metzger of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and Dennis Mangus of Chesterfield, Mo. She was born in Johnstown, along with seven brothers and sisters, of Lorenzo and Bertha (Wakefield) Timmeney. She received the Lord as a teen and is now home with her Savior. Esther Mae married Edward E. Mangus in 1934, raised three children and was a longtime resident of Roxbury. Edward passed away in December 1995 at the age of 81. In addition to her three children, she is survived by her sister, Gladys Corns of Pasadena, Fla., and her brother, Robert Timmeney of Fort Meyers, Fla. Her family includes 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held at John Henderson Co. Funeral Home, 215 Central Ave., Johnstown, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Roxbury St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 160 Derby St., Johnstown, followed by interment at Grandview Cemetery. The family will receive friends after the interment at the church social room. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Michael Mizak; son, Edward Mizak; sisters, Susan Chornick, Betty Schmid, Ann Chornick; and brothers, Stephen, Michael and George Chornick; and siblings in infancy. Survived by son, Dennis Mizak, married to the former Jodi Conti, of Hollsopple, Pa., and grandchildren, Abby and Brandon. A sister of Mary Chornick of Johnstown. Helena loved walking and hiking. PODLUCKY - Gabriel "Gabby" M.
PODLUCKY - Gabriel "Gabby" M., 63, of Waterford, died Monday, Jan. 2, 2006, surrounded by family in prayer, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Johnstown, Pa., the oldest son of Gabriel F. and Helen V. Prokop Podlucky. He was a graduate of Johnstown Catholic High School and attended Cambria-Rowe Business College. Gabby was an entrepreneur who owned and operated the Jones Brewing Co. and NAPA Auto parts stores in Connellsville, Confluence, Normalville, Seward and Johnstown for more than 25 years. He also held interest in other real estate projects and was a brainchild of an alternate fuel ethanol project in Clearfield County. Gabby enjoyed boating and was especially fond of the waters of off the coast of southern North Carolina. Gabby was a spectacular athlete in high school and loved sports in general. He passed this passion along to his children through many years of coaching football to the youth of Ligonier Valley. His great love was that of his grandchildren. He shared his hobbies and interests such as gardening, billiards, games, camping under the stars and exploring nature with them. He was particularly proud to pass along his leadership qualities and other values to his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons, Patrick James and Eric Jon, and his granddaughter, Melissa Morgan. He is survived by his high school sweetheart of 45 years, Sandra "Sandy" Canary Podlucky; three sons, Gregory Joseph, and wife, Karla Sue Boyd, of Ligonier; Gabriel Christopher, and wife, Danielle Marie Harper, of Seattle Wash.; and Jonathan Edward, and wife, Donna Marie DeFloria, of Greensburg; and their children, Gregory Jesse, Jordan Patrick, Jared Daniel, Madison Harper, Samantha Rae, Alex Patrick and Abbey Shae. He is also survived by a brother, Bernard Podlucky, and wife, Linda Kemp; sisters, Margaret, and husband, William Lichtenfels, and Kathleen, and husband, Ronald Slezak; sister-in-law, Patricia Canary Perluke; and brother-in-law, Gregory Canary, and wife, Agnes; 12 nieces and nephews; and 11 great-nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 6, at the Snyder Funeral Home Inc. -- Crematory, Bell and East Church streets, Ligonier. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, in Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 342 W. Main St., Ligonier, with co-celebrants, Monsignor William G. Charnoki, P.A., and cousins of Sandy, Monsignor Joseph R. Kiniry and Monsignor Lawrence Kiniry. Everyone please go directly to the church. Interment will be for family members only. PREALL - Frank C., 94, Homer City, died Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2006, at Indian Haven Nursing Center, Indiana. Born Nov. 24, 1911, in Armagh, son of Charles H. and Margaret (McCachren) Preall. He was preceded in death by parents; two brothers, Clifford and Thomas; and one sister, Carrie. Survived by wife, Helen (Smicklo), whom he married in 1935; two daughters, Norma Pavelchick, and husband, Steve, of Brush Valley, and Catherine Hutton, and husband, James, of Mayville, N.Y.; four grandchildren: Stephen and Timothy Pavelchick and Joshua Hutton and Kirsten Calhoon; and four great-grandchildren: Ryan, Adam and Lisa Pavelchick and Lawson Calhoon. He was of the Methodist faith. Employed by Old Home Manor in Brush Valley, handling and training the show horses. He also worked for Robin Hill Stables, Rockleigh, N.J., training and showing horses. Later, he retired from Bethlehem Steel Mills, Johnstown, after 20 years. Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Brush Valley United Methodist Church, with the Rev. ROSE - David H.
ROSE - David H. In memory of David H. Rose, 87, loving husband, devoted father, grandfather and friend, who passed away early in the morning on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2006, following a short illness. David lived with his wife, Elizabeth Yeagle Rose, at 126 Parkside Drive, Ashland, Ohio. He was born in Mundys Corner, Pa., on April 20, 1918. He was inducted into the Army on June 15, 1942, and later went ashore on Utah Beach as part of the D-Day invasion in June of 1944, then served in France and Germany until his discharge in December 1945. He was a 1937 graduate of Johnstown High School in Johnstown, Pa., and a 1949 graduate of Ashland College with a bachelor's degree in education. David taught music and sixth grade in the Crestview School System for 27 years until his retirement in 1976. He was an accomplished musician and led the David Rose Orchestra for over 30 years, playing dances throughout north central Ohio. Following retirement, David became a stained glass craftsman. He is a member of the Park Street Brethren Church and was a lifetime member of the Harry Higgins Post #88 of the American Legion. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Yeagle Rose, to whom he was married on June 22, 1947; two sons, David Rose of Ashland and Daniel Rose, and wife, Elizabeth, of Cleveland, Ohio; one daughter, Rebecca Michael Rose, and husband, Robert Michael of Columbus, Ohio; and one grandson, David Rose of Mansfield, Ohio. Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 6, 2006, at 1:30 p.m. at Park Street Brethren Church, with Dr. Arden Gilmer officiating. Burial, with military honors conducted by the Ashland Veterans Honor Guard, will be in the Ashland Cemetery.
