BABIAK - Cathy

BABIAK - Cathy, 54, Patton, passed away June 18, 2006, at her daughter's home in Hastings. Born Jan. 3, 1952, in Spangler, daughter of the late Robert and Betty (Turner) Gillette Sr. Preceded in death by grandson, Andrew Walk. Survived by husband, Michael J. Babiak Jr., Patton; children, Tammy (Babiak), married to Gary Buck, of Hastings; Charles Walk Jr., married to the former Tammy Stehley, Altoona; grandchildren, Katrina C. and Morgan L. Buck; Thomas M. McCaulley; and Amanda C. Walk. Sister of Robert C. Gillette Sr. of Chest Springs; Walter Lee Gillette of Ohio; Patricia R. Yurcisin of Northern Cambria; Donna M. Weber of Lancaster; William C.I. Walk of Tyrone; Jane R. Earnest of Pittsburgh; Lloyd J. Walk of Johnstown; Chris A. Walk of Tyrone; and Harold E. Walk of Ohio. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church and Ladies Auxiliary of Patton. Worked at Hollidaysburg Veterans Home for three years. She was a district manager for Family Dollar and Dollar General stores. Friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home Inc., 1004 N. Fifth Ave., Patton, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Benedictine Fathers will officiate. Private interment. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Hospice Medical Center, 600 Somerset Ave., Windber, Pa. 15963.



BURKETT - Nina Jane "Janie"

BURKETT - Nina Jane "Janie," 85, of Monroe, La., formerly of Richland Township, passed away in Monroe, on June 16, 2006, after a lengthy illness. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at The Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, the Rev. Charles Shaffer officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Cemetery.



DUMAN - Raymond J.

DUMAN - Raymond J., 87, Northern Cambria R.D. (Strongstown), died June 17, 2006, at Indiana Regional Medical Center. Born Jan. 4, 1919, in Allegheny Township, son of James and Annie (Springer) Duman. Preceded in death by parents; wife, former Virginia Kathleen Nelen, in 1986; brothers, Regis and Wilmer "Bill" Duman; a sister, Alma; and daughter-in-law, Lois (Houser) Duman. Survived by sons, Regis and Francis, both of Strongstown; grandchildren, Lisa Wilson, Michael Duman, Leigh Ann Uber, Patrick Duman, Nathan and Ryan Duman; and nine great-grandchildren. Also survived by a sister, Marie Coyle, Ridge, N.Y., and brothers, Louis and Urban, both of Ebensburg R.D. U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II. Retired from Bethlehem Mine 31, Nanty Glo. Member of Church of the Resurrection, Heilwood; UMWA; and American Legion Post 508, Northern Cambria. Mr. Duman was an avid gardener. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Long-Contres Funeral Home Inc., Northern Cambria. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Church of the Resurrection, the Rev. KIVISTO - David J., 65, of Mineral Point, died June 18, 2006, at Memorial Medical Center. Survived by wife, Madeline (Donley); and these children: David, married to Mary (Lazeration), of Nanty Glo; Marie, married to Tom Polka, of Vinco; John of Vinco; Melissa, married to Gregory Blake, of Virginia; and Sonya of Carlisle; grandchildren, D.J. and Michael Kivisto; Lauren DiBacco; Brianna and Danika Polka; and Joel Blake; sister, Emily Mazman of Michigan. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Home Inc., Nanty Glo. McKENNA - Marjorie K.

McKENNA - Marjorie K., 86, Westmont, died June 17, 2006, at Laurel View Village. Born Aug. 30, 1919, in Ebensburg, daughter of Arthur D. and Oleane (Evans) Roberts. Preceded in death by parents; brothers, Bruce and Ronald Roberts; and sister, Ora Pitkin. Survived by husband of 63 years, Dr. Thomas; daughter, Sharon, married to John Clarke, Fairfax, Va.; sons, Thomas, married to Linda Bouch, Mount Airy, Md.; Timothy, Scranton; grandchildren, Dr. John Clarke, married to Dr. Michelle Estrella; Timothy Clarke; Emily Clarke; Thomas McKenna III; James McKenna; brother, Timothy Roberts; and sister, Ruth Calloway. Member of the Westmont Presbyterian Church and former deaconess. Graduate of Magee School of Nursing, RN degree. Throughout her life, Marjorie pursued her diverse interests and she received recognition for her numerous accomplishments. For many years, she was active in a garden club and won prizes for her beautiful roses. She was an excellent bridge player and mastered the art of decoupage and taught classes. She enjoyed investing in stocks and was an officer in an investment club. She traveled extensively with her husband, visiting all 50 states and made numerous trips to Europe. Other destinations included Africa, Asia, South America, Central America and the Caribbean. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Frank Duca Funeral Home, Westmont Chapel, 1622 Menoher Blvd., where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Interment, Lloyd Cemetery, Ebensburg.



MORGART - Charles "Chuck" Edward

MORGART - Charles "Chuck" Edward, 72, Windber, passed away June 18, 2006, at Windber Medical Center. Born July 11, 1933, in South Fork, son of the late Edward and Margaret (Shope) Morgart. Survived by wife of 48 years, the former Jean Wise; children, James E, married to the former Sandra Angel, State College; David C., married to the former Deborah Grey, Princeton Junction, N.J.; Alan W., and special friend, Melissa Peck, South Williamsport, Pa.; and Carol Jean, wife of Greg Domonkos, Windber; grandchildren, Jennifer, Amanda and Christina; Lauren and Hayley; Christopher, Zachary, Nicholas, Matthew and Kristina; Stephanie and Michael. Brother of James Morgart, and fiancee, Sally Sprow. Also ex-daughter-in-law, Ann Marie Morgart. Korean Conflict veteran. Chuck was a member of the Windber Lions Club for 35 years, American Legion Post 137, VFW Post 4795 and Windber Church of the Brethren. He also attended Scalp Level Trinity United Methodist Church. Chuck was also employed by the Eureka Store, Windber Electric Company and then retired from Penelec. He was past treasurer of Windber Borough. Enjoyed income tax preparation for friends and family for over 40 years. Special thanks to daughter, Carol; granddaughter, Stephanie; and also Nancy Barnes, visiting nurse from Windber Home Health Agency for special care during his battle with lung cancer. Also special thanks to Northern EMS for all their help. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Meek and Dalla Valle Funeral Home Inc., Windber. Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Windber Church of the Brethren, the Rev. Royden Airesman, pastor, and the Rev. Art Moffet officiating. Interment, Berkey Cemetery, Windber. NOVELLO - Frances, 94, formerly of McMillen Street, died June 17, 2006, at Meadow View Nursing Center in Berlin. Born Feb. 24, 1912, in Johnstown, daughter of Michael and Mary Ann (Alessi) Grimaldi. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Samuel, who died Oct. 27, 1978; brothers, James and Anthony Grimaldi; and sisters, Mary Fazzari and Rose LiRocco. Survived by daughters, Mary Ann, married to John Kucenski, and Judy, married to Thomas Davidson, both of Johnstown; sister-in-law, Ann, married to George Salata; nieces, Rosanne, married to Robert Cotchen, and Mary Corica, married to John Stright; nephew, Vince Corica, married to DeLynn; and very special caregiver and friend, Kay Spengler. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Life member of St. Clare of Assisi Church, formerly St. Anthony Parish, Woodvale, where funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday. NOVITSKY -? Theodore, 81, Crafton, formerly of Johnstown, died Saturday, June 17, 2006. Beloved husband of Leona (Forgacs) Novitsky; devoted father of Patricia (Ray) Shoup, Theodore F. (Patricia) Novitsky and Dianna (Jeffrey) Herrman; daughter-in-law, Nancy, wife of the late Edward Novitsky; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Dear brother of Julia Dolgas and Elizabeth Furda and the late Anne Fedorach, John, Peter, Mike and George Novitsky. Ted was a World War II veteran with the U.S. Navy and member of American Legion Post 145.
