Survived by son, James A., married to Doris Elizabeth (Waterstam) Bell, Olney, Md.; grandchildren, Beth Shocklee, Lisa and Leon Mathis, and Julie Bell; great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Shocklee; and sisters, Josephine Carsello, Albina Venzon, Theresa Kaisner and Isadora Calderone. Retired Lineman from Penelec with over 40 years of service. BOERSTLER - Frederick C., 80, Upper Yoder Township, died Dec. 18, 2006, at Memorial Medical Center. Born Oct. 18, 1926, in Johnstown, son of the late George P. Sr. and Katharina (Mattern) Boerstler. He was also preceded in death by brothers, William and George P. Jr., and sisters, Margaret Stockman, Elizabeth Helbig and Freda Burger. He is survived by his loving wife of more than 53 years, the former Virginia Sitar; son, Brad E. Boerstler, Johnstown; and sister, Ruth A. Rodkey, Pittsburgh; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Fred was a 1944 Johnstown High School graduate, then served in the Navy, and was employed at the lower works of U.S. Steel for 39 years. He enjoyed many sports, playing baseball in several different leagues, belonging to and golfing at Berkeley Hills Golf Club and bowling in the PNA, CFU, Forge Shop, City Major and Lutheran Men's Leagues. Fred was a former member of Salem Chapel, then an active member of Zion Lutheran Church. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 10 until the time of service at 11 a.m. Thursday at Picking-Treece-Bennett Mortuary Inc., West Hills, 921 Menoher Blvd., the Revs. Michael Van Dyke and Wilbert Boerstler officiating. Shawley, Richland; son, Jack, married to the former Nancy Graff, Lorain Borough; grandchildren, James Shawley, married to the former Pam Woznick-Alberter, Windber; Gary Shawley, married to the former Cynthia Debias, Richland; Diane McCombie, Richland; Denise, wife of David Layman, Richland; Donna, wife of Jeffery Freshour, Richland; Todd and Eric Murphy, both of Lorain Borough; Ray Cvijanovich, Bedford; Kim, wife of Patrick Replogle, Salix; Michelle, wife of Joseph Black, Richland; 15 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Betty Murphy, formerly of Cramer; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mary was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Moxham, and retired from St. Patrick's School after 31 years service as a cook. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and the Richland B's Bowling Team. Mary enjoyed traveling to Atlantic City on bus trips with her friends. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting and loved spending time with her family. ZINDASH - George Jr., 71, State Route 46 South, Jefferson, Ohio, died Dec. 18, 2006, at the Hamot Medical Center in Erie following complications with cancer. He was born June 24, 1935, in Windber, the son George and Elda Sadie (Claar) Zindash and has been a resident of the Jefferson area since 1975, coming from Cleveland. Mr. Zindash retired from Reliance Electric in 1995 after 40 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He is a member of St. Joseph Calasanctius Church, Jefferson Eagles Aerie Lodge 3881 and Moose Lodge and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was an avid football fan of all levels of play; he especially liked the Pittsburgh Steelers. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann (Kelescheny) Zindash, whom he married on July 6, 1963, in Windber; three sons, Rusty J. (Jan) Zindash of Jefferson; Matthew D. (Lisa) Zindash of Chardon; and Jeffrey A. (Lisa) Zindash of Lenox Township; also five grandchildren, Ryan Zindash, Dawn Leary, Deanna Ashba and Ashley and April Reuschling; seven great-grandchildren, Dana Slaby-Stroud, D.J. Piert, Zachary Ashba, Brianna Badza, Angela Lopez and MacKenzie and Madilynne Leary; three brothers, John (Fran) Zindash of Orlando, Fla.; Nick (Linda) Zindash of Windber; and Richard (Shirley) Zindash of Twinsburg. The funeral Mass will be held at noon Friday at St. Joseph Calasanctius Church, 32 E. Jefferson St., Jefferson, with the Rev. Father Stephen Wassie officiating.
