COLANANNI – James P., 77, Seward, died April 29, 2007, at Beacon Ridge, Indiana. Born Aug. 9, 1929, in Seward, son of the late Loreto and Romaine (Ambrose) Colananni. Also preceded in death by his loving wife, Angeline (Balestrino) Colananni. Devoted father to surviving sons, Vincent Colananni, New Florence, and special friend, Nancy O’Hara; and John Colananni, and wife Lori, Indiana; grandson, Michael Colananni, Indiana; sister, Jean Patterson, and husband, Arnold “Jake,” Seward. Member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Seward; Seward Volunteer Fire Company; and Thomas R. Lewis VFW Post 7022, Seward. A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Retired employee of Conemaugh & Black Lick Railroad and lifelong railroader. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Kenneth A. Stuart Funeral Home, New Florence. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Family Catholic Church, Seward, the Rev. John Wilt. Interment, Armagh Cemetery. Parish rosary at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Military graveside rites by local veterans organizations.
McCLEARY – Mrs. Vivian Rebecca (Rigby) Alt
McCLEARY – Mrs. Vivian Rebecca (Rigby) Alt, 88, Richland Township and lately Richland Woods and Maple Winds Care Center, Portage, died peacefully April 23, 2007, at Memorial Medical Center. She was born March 17, 1919, in Dale, daughter of the late George and Lydia (Brown) Rigby, and was preceded in death by her brother, Charles, and sister, Mildred, who died in infancy; her brothers, William, Edgar and Harold Rigby; and sisters, Ada Frye and Lucille Wissinger. She was the last surviving child of her parents. Mrs. McCleary was also preceded in death by her first husband of 31 years, Henry V. Alt, whom she married in 1940, and her second of 24 years, Donald R. McCleary, whom she married in 1981; a daughter-in-law, Anna (Malenich) Alt; and a great-grandchild, Caitlyn Alt. She is survived by her two sons, George Alt of Mineral Point and Murray Alt, and wife, Sandra (Bell) Alt, Newark, Del.; two stepchildren, Donald McCleary, and wife, Joan, Morgantown, W.Va., and Laurie McCleary, Johnstown; four grandchildren, Stephen Alt, Johnstown; Scott Alt, Cincinnati, Ohio; Amy Alt, Newark, Del.; and Tracy Down, Aurora, Ind.; and five great-grandchildren, Anthony, Katy and Jeremy Alt, Samantha Maley and Rebecca Connor. Mrs. McCleary was a retired employee of Sears, with 20 years of service, and a member of Bethany United Methodist Church, Richland Township. She was also a grandniece of the famous “Lost Cox Children” of Bedford County. At Mrs. McCleary’s request, there will be no visitation or graveside service. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Geisel-Devlin Memorial Chapel, Dale, the Rev. Jeffrey Vanderhoff presiding. Interment, Richland Cemetery. Following the memorial service, family and friends are invited to a luncheon at the Bethany United Methodist Church, Leventry Road, Richland. POLIMINE – The Rev. Alan Polimine
POLIMINE – The Rev. Alan Polimine, TOR, 79, died Sunday, April 29, 2007, at St. Bernadine Monastery in Hollidaysburg, Pa. Father was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on June 11, 1927, the son of Fortunato and Rosalie (Borello) Polimine. He professed his vows of poverty, chastity and obedience on July 16, 1953. On July 15, 1956, he professed his solemn vows. He studied at The Catholic University of America, receiving his B.A. in philosophy in 1956, and where he took graduate studies in language. He was ordained to the priesthood on June 6, 1959, at the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, Washington, D.C. For a short time, he was chaplain at St. Gabriel Hospital in Little Falls, Minn. From 1960 to 1965 he was a teacher of religion and English at Cathedral High School in St. Cloud, Minn. He was named Novice Master at St. Bernadine Monastery in Hollidaysburg, Pa., from 1965 to 1968. At St. Thomas More House of Studies in Washington, D.C., Father Alan was the Director of Professed from 1968 to 1974. He was then named pastor of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Altoona, Pa., from 1974 to 1982, and then was named pastor of the former St. Anthony Church in Johnstown. He then returned to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Altoona, where he served as parochial vicar. In October 1999, Father retired at St. Bernadine Monastery in Hollidaysburg, where he resided until his death. Father is predeceased by his parents; his sisters, Grace, Santa and Rose; and his brothers, Ben and Dominick. He is survived by his Franciscan Community; his sisters, Josephine Middlebrooks, Angelina Mancuso and Antoinette Taggio; his brother, Joseph; and numerous nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews. The viewing will take place from 3 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Altoona, where there will be a wake service at 8 p.m. His funeral Mass will be at noon Wednesday at the church with burial at the community cemetery at St. Bernadine Monastery in Hollidaysburg. SEESE – Margaret L., 82, of Manns Choice, formerly of Dayton and Windber, was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 28, 2007. She was born June 10, 1924, in Jefferson County, a daughter of the late Harry E. and Mary O. (Saltsgiver) Smith. On April 8, 1978, in Ogletown, she married Oscar J. Seese, and he passed away on April 14, 1987. She is survived by his daughter, Donna Rae Biancotti of Friedens, and special friends and caregivers, Bev Patton, and husband, Steven J. Patton, of Manns Choice. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Mervin H. Smith and Brian L. Smith. Mrs. Seese attended Spring Meadow Family Worship Center and enjoyed praising the Lord. She especially enjoyed caring for others and working as a volunteer at Love In The Name of Christ in Everett. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 1, 2007, at 11 a.m. in the Dalla Valle Funeral Chapel with Rev. Gary Boor officiating. Friends may call at Dalla Valle Funeral Service, Main Street, Everett, on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the hour of service. Burial will be held at Mount Carmel Lutheran Cemetery, Ogletown.

STEPHENS – Robert L. “Bob,” 68, of Mundys Corner, passed away April 28, 2007. Son of the late Robert and June (Stiffler) Stephens. Survived by children, Colleen of Aliquippa, Pa.; Robert of Florida; Lynndyll of Texas; and Esther of Florida; grandchildren, Christine and Kateri; brothers, Ben (Linda) Stephens of Arkansas and Tom (Frankie) Stephens of Alabama; companion and friend of 10 years, Jean Wicoff, and special friends, Jason, Marianne, Elisabeth and Delainey Dodson. He was a Penn State graduate. A former Jackson Township supervisor, with 5 1⁄2 years’ service. A U.S. Army veteran, member of Nanty Glo VFW Post 3489 and Nanty Glo American Legion. Grandfather of six grandsons and three granddaughters. Brother of Ray, and wife, Barb, of Gray, and Clara, and husband, Vernon “Buddy” Yoder, Lincoln Township, Somerset County. WESS – William Edward, 58, Jamison, formerly of Conemaugh, died April 25, 2007, in Washington, D.C. Born in Conemaugh, the son of Edward and Margaret (Calpin) Wess. Survived by wife of 34 years, Barbara Marie Wess; sons, Edward W., William P. and Timothy J. Wess; daughter, Kimberly M. Wess; and sister, Rebecca Siwy, married to Joseph, and their children, Bruce, Joshua and Ryan. A graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a B.S. in criminology. A retired special agent with the United States Secret Service (26 years). William worked as a special agent in charge in the office of the Inspector General, U.S. Department of Homeland Security. He had served in the Pa. Army National Guard. Mr. Wess enjoyed Penn State football, fly-fishing and was a sports photographer for Central Bucks East High School football and lacrosse. The family will receive friends from 2:30 until 5:30 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Shelly Funeral Home, 1460 Easton Road, Warrington, Pa.
