LILLY — PATTERSON – Francis E. “Hubba,” 71, Lilly, went to his eternal rest July 27, 2010, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born April 8, 1939, in Lilly, son of the late John L. and Anna (Bender) Patterson. Preceded in death by son, John F. Patterson, and brothers, Billy and David. Survived by wife, Ruth (Shultz) Patterson, Lilly. Devoted father of Bill, and wife, Christine (Fordick) Patterson, Lilly, and Lisa, and husband, John Prebish Jr., Lilly. Also grandchildren, Meghan, and husband, Keith Maul; Brittany and Holly Patterson; and Tyler, Bailey and Malia Prebish, and great-grandson, Landon Maul. Brother of Donald, and wife, Doris Patterson, Jamestown, and Joe, and wife, Shirley Patterson, Lilly. Also numerous nieces and nephews and beloved dog, “Gypsy.” Hubba was chief of police in Lilly for 30 years. Member of Mainline Police Association, lifetime member of Lilly Volunteer Fire Company and Fire Police, water commissioner for Lilly for several years, Lilly Borough Council member and Penn Cambria School District Police. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing. He was a founding member of Old Soldiers Hunting Camp. He enjoyed his grandchildren immensely and loved the community of Lilly Borough. Member of Our Lady of the Alleghenies Catholic Church, Lilly. Friends received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Thomas F. Cloherty Funeral Home, Lilly, where vigil for the deceased will be held Friday afternoon. Lilly Volunteer Fire Company will hold a service at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of the Alleghenies Catholic Church, Lilly, the Rev. Monsignor John R. Sasway, celebrant. Committal, St. Brigid’s Cemetery, Lilly. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Lilly Volunteer Fire Company or Simmons Center for Interstitial Lung Disease, 3601 5th Ave., 4th Floor, Pittsburgh, Pa. 15213.
