HOMER CITY R.D. — SILVIS – Sarah J., 75, Homer City R.D., passed away suddenly Feb. 22, 2013, at Memorial Medical Center. Born April 7, 1937, in Buffington Township, daughter of the late James and Rebecca Yarnal. Preceded in death by son, Donald; sister, Betty Yarnal; and an infant grandson. Survived by husband, Lewis C. Silvis, to whom she was married 60 years; and children, Lewis Jr. (Robyn) Silvis, Columbus, Ga.; Ruth (Randy) Shoup, Indiana, Pa.; Richard (Debby) Silvis, Homer City; Alice (Jon) Lone, Michigan; Ellen (Steve) Cerny, Atlanta, Ga.; and Jenny (Bill) Naler, Homer City R.D.; 17 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. Sister of Charles “Ed,” James “Pete” and William “Butch” Yarnal. Also survived by daughter-in-law, Linda Foust, Bolivar. Member of Gospel Community Church, Homer City R.D. Sarah enjoyed sewing, cooking, canning and baking. She loved to care for her birds and was an avid birdwatcher. Her hobbies included drawing and art and collecting angels. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Askew-Houser Funeral Homes Inc., Nanty Glo, where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, the Rev. Richard Markel, officiating. Interment, Pineland Cemetery, Strongstown. In lieu of other memorials, donations may be made to Sarah’s family.
