DAVIDSVILLE — EPPLEY – Dorothy E. (Lohr), 88, Davidsville, went to be with her Lord Feb. 5, 2012, at Bethlen Care Center, Ligonier. Born Aug. 11, 1923, in Johnstown, daughter of Ira and Mary (Keim) Lohr. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Robert F. Eppley Sr., Aug. 28, 1988; brother, Carl Lohr; sister, Geraldine Knepper; and grandson, Mearl D. Horner Jr. Survived by children, Carol J., married to Mearl D. Horner Sr., Davidsville; Robert F. Eppley Jr., married to former Cynthia Lippincott, Ambler, Pa.; and Brian S. Eppley, with whom Dorothy resided; grandchildren, Doug Horner, married to former Dawn Varmecky, Wasilla, Alaska; Sheri (Horner), married to Anthony Zambanini, Jerome; Cherith (Eppley), married to Courtenay Long, Philadelphia; Justin Eppley, Ambler, Pa.; and Nathaniel Eppley, San Diego, Calif.; great-grandchildren, Christopher, Robert, Alexandra, Kyle, Daniel and Maggie; and numerous nieces and nephews. A 1941 graduate of Conemaugh Township Area High School. Member of Maple Spring Church of the Brethren, where she served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher, and was a member of the Women’s Fellowship and the Truth Seekers Sunday School Class. Former member of the Connumach Lioness Club. She enjoyed camping, traveling and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, especially playing cards with them at the beach. Dorothy showed her faith in Christ by the manner in which she lived. She had an uncomplaining spirit along with a kind word and a smile for everyone. Viewing from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 109 Church Road, Davidsville. Viewing also from 10 a.m. until the time of service 11 a.m. Wednesday at Maple Spring Church, the Rev. Guy Myers and the Rev. Ronald Beachley, presiding. Interment, Maple Spring Cemetery.
