JOHNSTOWN — EMMEL – Dorothy F., 93, Johnstown, passed away Thursday, Oct. 04, 2012. at Windber Hospice. Born Sept. 3, 1919, in Windber, daughter of the late John and Jeannette (Morgan) Shearer. Also preceded in death by first husband, Merle Seese, who was killed in World War II; second husband, William C. Emmel; sisters, Violet Hoffman, Margaret Weyant, Jean Shaffer and Mary Ream; as well as brothers, Willis, John and Robert Shearer. Dorothy was the last surviving member of her family. Survived by daughters, Karen (Leonard) Yarina, Franklin; and Melanie Liastro (George Jr.) Richland; grandchildren, Eric and William Yarina; James Yarina, and girlfriend, Karlee Sabol; and Nicole and Vincent Licastro; numerous nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law Marie Cooper. Dorothy was a member of Oakland Volunteer Fire Department ladies auxiliary, Cambria County ladies auxiliary, Daisytown Volunteer Fire Department ladies auxiliary and Eastern Star. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc., 1521 Frankstown Road, where funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday. Committal, Richland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Walnut Grove Church of the Brethren or Windber Hospice.
