MIAMI BEACH, FLA. — SMOLAR – Michael P., 48, Miami Beach, Fla., formerly of Elton Heights, passed away suddenly of a heart attack Feb. 25, 2013. Preceded in death by mother, Evelyn Smolar; several aunts and uncles; and cousin, Robert Kachmar Jr. Survived by wife, Silvana, and her daughter, Luna, both of Miami; father, Paul Smolar, Johnstown; sister, Paula DeVos, and husband, David, Grand Haven, Mich.; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Michael was a 1982 graduate of Forest Hills High School and an Eagle Scout. In 1988, he graduated from Millersville University with a bachelor of science degree in marine biology. Michael enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, snorkeling and scuba diving. A memorial service will be held in Johnstown at a later time.
