NORTHERN CAMBRIA — SHARKEY– John S. “Jack,” 78, Northern Cambria, passed away March 2, 2013, at Golden Living Center, HAIDA. Born Feb. 21, 1935, in Spangler, the son of Stephen and Mary Catherine (Stock) Sharkey. Preceded in death by parents; first wife, Carole (Arotin) Sharkey, who passed away April 26, 1991; sister, Judith Learn; and grandchildren, Dustin and Samantha Jo Deckard. Survived by his wife, Margaret L. (Mishler); children, Shirley, wife of Carl Gormish, Northern Cambria; Donna, wife of Tim Lowmaster, Carrolltown; and Ronald, married to the former Kathleen Fox, Northern Cambria; grandchildren, James, Deanna, David (Sonya), Melanie, Tara (Jeremy Ritchey), Shawna Black, Ronnie and Amber Sharkey, Randall (Sarah) McCool and Marae Laney (Brian Wylie); great-grandchildren, Tyler and Courtney Bobik, John Black, Nicoli Sharkey and Ava Deckard. He also is survived by a niece, Nancy (Eric) Storck, Lancaster, and special friends, Ronald and Thelma Fox. Jack was dedicated to a life of serving the community as chief of police of Barnesboro Borough with 30 years of service. Charter member and past president of FOP Hemlock Lodge 101. Life member of Hope Fire Company. Jack enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and camping. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 p.m. until time of funeral service at 9 p.m. Tuesday at Moriconi Funeral Home Inc., Northern Cambria, James Whited, lay minister, officiating. Committal, East Ridge Cemetery.
