JOHNSTOWN — ROLES – Lloyd L. “Rattle Snake Pete,” 82, Richland Township, went to be with the Lord and his son, Daniel, on March 5, 2013. Born May 17, 1930, in Johnstown, son of the late Wade and Esther (Stuart) Roles. In addition to his parents and son, he was preceded in death by brothers, Edward F. and Wayne; and sister, Ethel Rager. Survived by loving wife of 56 years, Mary E. (Katancik) Roles, Richland Township; sons, David L., Cook Forest; and Darin J., Richland Township; daughter, Debra Adams, Cook Forest; grandchildren, Jody, Luke, Rebecca, Allison, Thomas, Benjamin and Michael; great-grandchildren, Zoe, Lucy and Lilly; brother, Herman, Johnstown; and several nieces and nephews. Lloyd served in the U.S. Army with Company C, 37th Armored Infantry Battalion, during the Korean War. He retired from Conemaugh Blacklick Railroad after 37 years of service as a conductor. Lloyd was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church and American Legion Post 243. He enjoyed gardening at home as well as hunting, fishing and camping with his family at Juniata River, Everett. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, where vigil for the deceased will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Father David S. Peles, pastor. Committal, St. Joseph Mausoleum, with military rites conducted by Menoher Post 155 VFW Ritual Team. The family suggests contributions be directed to a charity of one’s choice in memory of Lloyd.
