HERSHEY — FILLER – Richard Anthony, 81, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, March 3, 2013. He was a retired professional engineer and land surveyor and longterm resident of Hershey, Pa. After two years in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, Mr. Filler received his bachelor’s degree from Indiana Institute of Technology and then his master’s degree in civil engineering from Pennsylvania State University in 1970. His previous employers included Bethlehem Steel, Penn State and Centrex-Simpson Construction. His subsequent retirement years were spent traveling with his wife, spending time with his children and grandchildren and collecting coins. Richard was preceded in death by parents, Mary (Matizka) Filler and Frank Filler; two brothers; and four sisters. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Mary Ann (Sides) Filler; daughter, Tracy Anne Filler; and son, Christopher Anthony Filler, and wife, Michelle Marie (Condor) Filler, and their daughters, Cassidy Rose and Leia Marie. Richard also is survived by sisters, Juliette Filler, Kathleen Filler and Anita (Filler) Noonan. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Friday, March 8, at St. Catherine Laboure Parish, 4000 Derry St., Harrisburg, Pa. 17111, with Father Joseph R. Howard as celebrant. Inurnment will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 9, at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem, Pa.
