CRESSON — BURKEY – Ellen E., 69, Cresson, died Oct. 12, 2012, at her residence. Born Dec. 7, 1942, in Beaverdale, daughter of the late John C. and Agnes (Tokarick) Burkey. Preceded in death by brother, Dennis, and nephew, John Belock. Survived by brother, John (Irene), Streetsboro, Ohio; sister, Ruth Belock, Reading; foster sisters, Janet Bender, with whom she resided; and Anna Marie (Barry) Gramling, Windber; nieces and nephews, Renee, Mark, John and Michael Burkey, all of Ohio; Roberta (Chris) McCann, Reading; Rosalyn (Jeff) Sinsinig, Reading; David (Amanda) Gramling, South Fork; and Jennifer (Brett) Smith, and children, Hailey and Sophia Grace, all of Johnstown. Worked as a cook for the Altoona and Ebensburg Centers. A 1960 graduate of Adams Township High School. Ellen enjoyed cooking, reading, camping, golfing and taking her niece, Hailey, to the park. Member of Legion of Mary and St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Cresson, where funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, the Rev. John D. Byrnes, celebrant. Committal, church cemetery. Legion of Mary will recite the rosary at 3 p.m. Monday. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Gibbons Funeral Home, 301 Church St., Gallitzin, where a vigil service will be held Monday afternoon. (www.gibbonsfunerals.com)
