RUBUS – Theresa, 89, Hastings, passed away Oct. 22, 2012, at Altoona Hospital. Born March 19, 1923, in Carrolltown, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Dzedik) Babyak. She also was preceded in death by her husband, George J. Rubus; a daughter, Arlene Kuzma; sisters, Mary Risbon, Ann Selwyn, Catherine Pawliske and Helen Nazurak; brothers, George, Nicholas, Joseph Jr., John and Basil Babyak; and two infant brothers. Survived by daughters, Theresa (John) Polenik, Westmont; Dorothy (John) Long, Armagh; Ann (Edward) Fisanick, Patton; Betty (Kevin) Miller, Ebensburg; and Irene Rubus, Hastings; son-in-law, Frank Kuzma, Patton; brother, Peter Babyak, Bakerton; 18 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Rubus was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church. She loved to cook, take walks, shopping, sewing, canning, gardening and tending her flowers. She enjoyed attending church functions and was especially fond of the Carmelite Nuns of Loretto. She also enjoyed polka dancing and was very supportive of her children’s activities. She loved spending time with her family and will be deeply missed. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Easly-Hindman Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Hastings. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Bernard Catholic Church, Hastings. Interment, church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Cancer Society or Carmelite Monastery in Loretto.
