HUNTINGDON — ROGERS – Richard W., 57, Huntingdon, formerly of Johnstown, passed away Oct. 20, 2012, at Altoona Regional Hospital. Born Dec. 11, 1954, in Johnstown, son of Fred D. and Kathleen (Lambert) Rogers. Preceded in death by parents; brother, Fred Joseph Rogers; niece, Nicole Rogers; and nephew, Frank Rogers. Survived by loving children, Richard Rogers, married to Anita, and Melissa, and loving brothers, John D. Rogers, married to former Virginia Schnurr; Donald J. Rogers, married to former Mary Catherine Ryan; and Mark A. Rogers, married to former Marsha Johnson. Also survived by five grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, stationed at Fort Bragg and Germany. He was president of the Prison Veterans Group. Member of Holy Name Society at Huntingdon. He loved to cook and bake and everyone loved his cooking and baking. He was a tailor and a great artist. He could draw anything and you knew it came from his heart. He was a man with a heart of gold and would help anyone no matter what the situation was, good or bad. He always smiled and was the happiest man in the world. He loved his family, friends and his country. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Geisel Funeral Home, Johnstown, where funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in the Geisel-Devlin Funeral Chapel, Pastor Ray Streets Jr., officiating.
