JOHNSTOWN — OSBORN – Helen M., 91, Johnstown, passed away Nov. 3, 2012, at home with her loving daughter, Joanne, by her side. Born June 30, 1921, in Harrisonville, Fulton County, daughter of the late Wishart C. and Alice Blanche (Wink) Deshong. Preceded in death by loving husband, Robert, April 1983, and brothers, DeKalb and Ralph. Survived by children, Robert and Carol (Palumbo), Windber; Sandra and Vernon Negus, Richford, N.Y.; Donald and Susan (Calik), Johnstown; loving daughter, Joanne, at home; and David, Lawrenceville, Ga.; grandchildren, Christopher, and wife Jennifer, Richford, N.Y.; Robert, Hollsopple; Jennifer, and husband, Curt Northrop, Woodbury, Conn.; Donald, Hollsopple; and Matthew, Johnstown; great-grandchildren, Libby and Seth, Woodbury, Conn.; brother-in-law, John, Calif.; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Helen was a 1939 graduate of Johnstown High School; worked 41 years for PRR; Conrail; and Penn Central and Amtrak as head ticket clerk in Johnstown until her retirement in 1981. She and her husband, Robert, were enthusiastic thoroughbred race horse owners and breeders from the early ’60s until his death. They watched their horse’s race from Maine to Florida, and made many wonderful friends. Helen continued owning or going to the races until her death. She was an avid reader and loved music of all kinds. She also enjoyed traveling and at the age of 75 parasailed in Acapulco. She enjoyed going to casinos with friends and family and spending winters in Florida. Helen was a member of Belmont United Methodist Church. Her quiet strength and loving heart will be forever remembered and sadly missed. At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing. A private memorial service will be held at a later date at the family’s convenience. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, please make donations to Windber Hospice, 600 Somerset Ave., Windber, Pa. 15963.
