CHERRY TREE R.D. — BORING – Velma I., 103, Cherry Tree R.D., died Nov. 7, 2012, at home. Born Oct. 15, 1909, in Hastings, daughter of Harvey and Lucinda (Wassum) Baum. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Arthur M., in 1968; children, Harold D., Paul E., Mona M. McCracken and Remona Karstetter; one grandson; one great-grandson; 12 brothers and sisters; and son-in-law, Howard McCracken. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Survived by children, Arthur H., married to Betty (Crea); and Sylvia J. Boring, both of Cherry Tree R.D.; and Barbara B. Walker; and Sandra K., married to Charles Karwacki, both of York; son-in-law, Richard Karstetter; daughter-in-law, Agnes Boring; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 21 great-great-grandchildren. A member of Kinport Assembly of God Church. She loved crocheting, gardening and making quilts. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Long-Contres Funeral Home Inc., Northern Cambria, where funeral service will be held at noon Saturday, Pastor Chris Massey. Interment, East Ridge Cemetery. Family requests that memorial contributions be sent to Kinport Assembly of God Church, 5658 Route 240, Cherry Tree, Pa. 15724.
