RICHLAND TOWNSHIP — REAM – Gene Ray, 82, Richland Township, died Nov. 11, 2012, at Memorial Medical Center. Born Feb. 13, 1930, in Paint Township, son of the late Arthur and Alberta (Wiand) Ream. Preceded in death by wife, Mary Lou “Bunny” (Oldham) Ream; brothers, Clarence and Frank; and sisters, Ruth and Sue. Survived by daughter, Deborah Stuckey, and husband, Richard, Florida; son, David Ream, and wife, Rebecca, Ephrata; grandchildren, Michael Valinsky; Nicola Hernandez, and fiance, Shawn Lynn; Jesika Ream, and fiance, Justin Wilhelm; and Justin Ream; great-grandson, Christopher; brothers, William and John; and sisters, Ida, Jane and Sally. Member of Bethany United Methodist Church, where he served as deacon, was a member of the church choir, participated in the live manger and was chief chef for the Men’s Saturday Prayer Breakfast. Also a member of the 458th Engineer Battalion Alumni Association, Charles Menoher Post 155 VFW, Richland American Legion Post 849 and East Hills Senior Citizens Center. He retired from Bethlehem Steel Corp. and Arbutus Park Manor. He was a U.S. Army veteran from 1948 to 1949 and served in the Army Reserves from 1949 until 1977. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Henderson Funeral Home East Hills, 2503 Bedford St. Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Bethany United Methodist Church, the Rev. Patricia Cleary, officiating. Entombment, Richland Mausoleum, where military rites will be conducted. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Arbutus Manor or Bethany United Methodist Church.
