Marian E. Thompson

RICHLAND TOWNSHIP — THOMPSON – Marian E., 89, Richland Township, died Oct. 11, 2012, at Arbutus Park Manor. Born Jan. 11, 1923, in Johnstown, daughter of Charles and Edith (Miller) Holsopple. Preceded in death by parents; husband, James K.; and brother, Maurice. Survived by children, Nancy Lynn (Ned L. Mountain), Sautee Nacoochee, Ga.; James Douglas (Kathleen Felten), Houston, Texas; and Debra Darleen (Dennis W. Burkhart), Windber. Also survived by six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. Brother of Robert. She was a 50-year member of Belmont United Methodist Church and also a 50-year member of Anna L. Windolph Chapter, Order of Eastern Star. Marian also was member of Jaffa Temple White Shrine, Cedarettes, and was the past Worthy Advisor of the Rainbow Girls. She was a member of the following auxiliaries: York Rite; Knights of Red Cross of Constantine, Rose Croix; Knights Templar; Johnstown Lodge 175 BPO Elks; Transfiguration Tabernacle; and Royal Order of Scotland. You could never find a more wonderful mother, or a mother more loved, than our “Mum-Mum.” She was the personification of the words, grace and class. She will be dearly missed. She retired from the bakery department at the Riverside Division of Penn Traffic. By request, there will be no public viewing. Funeral service will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, family suggests memorial contributions be made to Belmont United Methodist Church.
