CENTRAL CITY — CHELEDNIK – Helen Nellie (Lorence), 93, died Oct. 22, 2012. Born Sept. 13, 1919, in Rainytown, Somerset County, daughter of Ciprian and Mary (Skivronski) Lorence. Preceded in death by parents and husband, John “Porky” Chelednik; son, James John; sisters, Catherine Bodziak and Anna Lemchak; and brothers, Andrew, John, Joe, Frank and Stanley. Survived by daughter, Nancy, married to Ron Terhaar, Albany, Ore. Nellie was the baby of the family and the one who reached the oldest age, including her mother, who lived to be 90. Nellie was a wonderful, nurturing mother and wife, who nursed her husband for 20 years after his stroke at the age of 50. She was a great Polish cook and loved to bake bread, cakes and huckleberry pies. Her daughter will be forever grateful for her mother teaching her needlework skills, and Nellie herself continued to crochet afghans and embroider dresser scarves into her 90s. Her little cat, Pussywillow, will surely miss Nellie’s nurturing ways. Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Mulcahy Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady Queen of Angels Church, Father Maurizio. Committal, St. John the Baptist Cemetery.
